How long will this market go up?

How long will this market go up?

This past week’s volatility has been fierce and some experts have hinted the start of a correction – how long will this market go up? Hopefully this “news” is not getting in the way of enjoying your True Wealth, which includes financial, but as you know covers so much more.

Regardless, we are still experiencing what can be considered the longest bull market in history.  Typically, a bull market of this length means a market correction is around the corner. What happens next is uncertain, with two stark pictures of American business at odds.

black-and-white-business-chart-241544Landmark companies like Ford, whose share prices are stuck at a multi-year low with sliding profits (even before this week), have been struggling in the market.  GE also took a hit in the past month, having lost more than half its market cap between July 2017 and September 2018.

On the other hand, many companies are thriving.  Amazon stock is still up over 30% after being up significantly more YTD as of September.  Other notable local high-flyers include Smartsheets who went public in April boasting 59% growth in revenue YOY, and Boeing who after a 2 day 10% share price decline this past week is still up over 20% YTD after this recent drop, with an increase in dividends from 2017 to 2018.  Daily and weekly volatility can influence your perspective.  Don’t get caught up in the headlines. The media is here to get your “clicks and eyeballs”, so they will tend to make everything a bit more “dramatic and exciting”.

Do we think that’s the case?

We have heard experts “guarantee” a correction is coming soon and we have heard experts “projecting strongly” that the market has nowhere to go but up.  Ultimately we understand it could go either way with our current political, economic and social environment all potentially impacting market levels.

Keep peace of mind knowing that as our client, you have a plan in place that ensures your True Wealth is protected, which includes both financial and non-financial assets important to you.

Keep peace of mind knowing that as our client, you have a plan in place that ensures your True Wealth is protected, which includes both financial and non-financial assets important to you.  We have prepared together to ensure if and when a market correction happens — you will enjoy a smoother ride.

You might recall completing a “stress test” when you first began your relationship with the GWM Team.  This test was used to help you face these volatile times with confidence.

Remember, those who you are close to might not all have a fiduciary generated wealth preservation plan, or the confidence that comes with it like you have.  To help those you love — your friends and family — it may be the right time to give them some reassurance through our “Second Opinion Service” to help them feel more certain about their future and goals.

Be assured that as a client of ours, you plan prepares you for both scenarios: continuing upside as well as the potential reappearance of a 2008 scenario.

Our team and I  thought it might be helpful to share an article on market corrections during what may appear and could be volatile and uncertain times. We hope this helps create some understanding . As always, please feel free to call if you have any questions or we can be of service in any way.
